Fall Wedding at The Thayer Hotel at West Point | Robin & Andrew

Hudson Valley Wedding Photographer • October 2025

As a Hudson Valley wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of shooting at some truly spectacular venues. However, Robin and Andrew’s fall wedding at The Thayer Hotel at West Point was in a league of its own. With the Hudson River stretching out below and the mountains lit up in peak autumn color, this October day felt like something out of a painting.

A Hudson Valley First Look Overlooking the River

Robin and Andrew had their first look on the hotel’s grounds. They stood on a grassy overlook with a sweeping view of the Hudson River and fall foliage rolling across the hills. Robin’s off-the-shoulder gown looked stunning against the warm tones of the landscape. The moment was quiet and emotional — just the two of them taking it all in before the celebrations began.

Afterward, we captured some portraits along the stone terrace where the river valley opens up dramatically between the mountains. The scale of that view is hard to put into words. It’s the kind of backdrop that makes you stop and just breathe.

An Outdoor Ceremony with Hudson River Views

The ceremony took place outdoors on the terrace overlooking the water. A white floral arbor dressed in blush and ivory roses framed the couple as they exchanged vows. The bridesmaids wore soft pink gowns. In addition, the bridal party’s classic palette paired beautifully with the warm autumn hillside behind them. A military officiant led the ceremony, adding a meaningful touch of tradition to the day.

Every guest had a front-row seat to the view. In fact, you could feel the emotion in the air as Robin and Andrew said their vows with the Hudson Valley stretching out behind them.

An Elegant Ballroom Reception at The Thayer Hotel

The reception moved indoors to The Thayer’s grand ballroom, and the room was absolutely beautiful. Gold chiavari chairs, white linens, floating candles, and soft floral centerpieces gave the space a timeless, romantic feel. The iron chandeliers and high ceilings of the ballroom added a sense of grandeur that matched the rest of the day perfectly.

From the first look to the last dance, Robin and Andrew’s wedding was elegant, emotional, and full of love. It was an honor to document every moment of it.
