Fall Engagement Session on the Upper East Side | Hayley & Alex

As an NYC engagement photographer, I love sessions that feel like a real date rather than a formal photo shoot. Hayley and Alex wanted exactly that — a relaxed fall afternoon exploring some of their favorite spots on the Upper East Side. We shot during Halloween season, and the autumn light that day was absolutely golden.
An Upper East Side Engagement Session Starting with Coffee
We kicked things off at La Bomboniera, a charming espresso and wine bar with beautiful fall foliage framing its entrance. Hayley and Alex grabbed coffees and settled into an easy conversation at one of the sidewalk tables. These are always some of my favorite frames — candid, warm, and completely natural.
From there, we strolled through the neighborhood along Madison Avenue. The ivy-covered brownstones and classic architecture of the Upper East Side made every block feel like its own little set. I love shooting couples as they walk and talk, holding hands at crosswalks, stealing a kiss on the corner. The yellow cabs rolling by in the background added that unmistakable New York energy to every shot.
Golden Hour Near the Met Museum
We wrapped up the session near The Metropolitan Museum of Art, where the late afternoon sun hit the grand entrance perfectly. The ornate ironwork and stone facades along Fifth Avenue gave us one last stunning backdrop to close out the afternoon.
Hayley and Alex were so easy to photograph — genuinely happy, playful with each other, and completely themselves the entire time. That’s what makes the best engagement photos: real moments between two people who are clearly in love.
