There’s something truly magical about New York City rooftop weddings. Liz and Cory’s celebration at Tribeca Rooftop + 360° perfectly captured that enchanting urban elegance. As a Brooklyn wedding photographer who loves documenting authentic moments against the city’s iconic backdrop, this August wedding offered everything I could hope for. It included intimate getting-ready moments, tearful first looks, and an unforgettable sunset ceremony with the Manhattan skyline as witness.

A Luxurious Start at Hotel Hugo
The day began at the stylish Hotel Hugo in SoHo, where Liz and her bridesmaids prepared for the big day. The hotel’s modern aesthetic provided a perfect canvas for capturing those precious pre-ceremony moments. These included nervous excitement, champagne toasts, and the beautiful transformation as Liz stepped into her gown. Meanwhile, Cory and his groomsmen shared laughs and last-minute adjustments in a separate suite. The anticipation built with each passing minute.
What truly made this New York wedding photographer’s heart sing was the couple’s decision to have their first look on Hotel Hugo’s rooftop. With the city sprawling beneath them, Cory turned to see his bride for the first time. The genuine emotion that washed over his face in that moment is exactly why I love what I do. I aim to capture raw, unscripted reactions that tell the true story of the day.
Tribeca Streets: A Photographer’s Dream
After the first look, we ventured into Tribeca’s charming streets for portraits that showcase both the couple’s connection and the neighborhood’s distinctive character. The iconic covered walkway of Staple Street provided a perfect urban setting. Its industrial charm contrasted beautifully with the elegance of the wedding party. We explored hidden corners around Tribeca. We used the neighborhood’s architecture and cobblestone streets to create images that feel authentically New York yet timelessly romantic.
For couples planning their own NYC wedding photography sessions, Tribeca offers countless picturesque spots beyond the well-known locations. This is something I’m always excited to explore as a Brooklyn wedding photographer.

Rooftop Ceremony: City Views and Sacred Vows
By late afternoon, we arrived at Tribeca Rooftop + 360°, where the ceremony was set to take place under the open sky. The venue’s expansive rooftop had been transformed with lush florals and elegant seating. All were oriented to maximize the breathtaking Manhattan skyline view. As guests took their seats, the golden hour light began to cast a warm glow over the proceedings. This was a photographer’s dream lighting scenario.
Liz’s walk down the aisle, escorted by her father, brought tears to many eyes, including Cory’s. Their ceremony felt both grand and intimate. This perfect balance made for stunning images. These images captured both the epic scale of the setting and the tender moments between the couple as they exchanged vows.
Sunset Cocktails and City Lights
One of the highlights of photographing at Tribeca Rooftop is capturing the transition from day to night. As the ceremony concluded, guests moved into cocktail hour, still on the rooftop, just as the sun began its descent behind the city skyline. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. The golden light was followed by a spectacular sunset. It created a naturally romantic ambiance that no indoor venue could replicate.
For any couple considering a rooftop venue, I always recommend scheduling your ceremony to coincide with that magical golden hour light. The results, as Liz and Cory discovered, are simply spectacular.
A Night of Celebration
As darkness fell, the celebration moved indoors to Tribeca Rooftop’s elegant reception space. The venue’s floor-to-ceiling windows maintained the connection to the city outside, now transformed into a glittering light show. The reception space glowed with warm lighting, abundant candles, and thoughtful décor that complemented the couple’s sophisticated style.
What followed was a night of heartfelt toasts, incredible food, and a dance party that continued well into the night. As a photographer who values candid wedding moments, I found myself constantly capturing genuine laughter, surprise embraces, and those split-second glances between the newlyweds. These moments speak volumes about their connection.
The energy on the dance floor was electric – a perfect end to a day filled with love, beauty, and genuine emotion.
